Semmy Schilt Shihan has done it again!
Semmy Schilt AIKO SHIHAN wins K-1 World Grand Prix 2009
Semmy Schilt Shihan has done it again, beating Badr Hari by first-round TKO in the K-1 World Grand Prix 2009 Final and winning the K-1 GP title for a record-tying fourth time. The exact time was 1.48 minutes to knock down his final opponent Badr Hari three times.
The gameplan for this Grand Prix was a setup from Coach Dave Jonkers Shihan and Semmy Schilt Shihan.
The preparation was done in the Romanian Golden Glory Dojo Bucharest where both Shihans developed a strategy to get back the title after three years of being King of the K1.
Last year Semmy Schilt Shihan wasn’t able to qualify for the tournament in a discussable qualification match against Peter Aerts.
The Final.Hari got off to a blistering fast start, throwing wild punches at Schilt and appearing to land some of them and hurt his much bigger opponent. But Schilt withstood the initial storm and quickly turned the tables.
Schilt shocked Hari by knocking him down with a hard jab in the first round, then knocking him down again just seconds later with a head kick. When he used a body kick to secure his third knockdown, he won the fight via K-1's three-knockdown rule.
Schilt won all three of his fights on Saturday -- against Jerome Le Banner, Remy Bonjasky and Hari -- in the first round. He needed a total of just 5 minutes, 52 seconds to win the three fights, the fastest that anyone has ever won the K-1 World Grand Prix.
Our Ashihara Shihan Schilt may be the most powerful fighter in K-1 history and the best tournament fighter in K-1 history, and he has now tied Ernesto Hoost for the most World Grand Prix Final championships in K-1 history. Schilt deserves credit as a great champion.
Ashihara may be proud to have Semmy Schilt as a styleleader.
